Avocados
Is it me?
I know when I buy them they are not ripe. I have tried ripening them next to bananas. I have put them in a brown bag with a banana.
I have left them for over one week and they are still inedible!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, even if it’s “Don’t buy them!”

Re: Avocados
I saw some over-ripe avocados at the last Girne Wednesday market at one stall though not very big.

My domestic goddess says try wrapping them in tinfoil for about a week.Butterflyaway wrote: ↑Fri 02 Oct 2020 4:24 pmIs it me?

Re: Avocados
Generally I use them to hammer nails in and if I can eat them in the 30 minute window before they go off that’s a bonus

Wrap them in newspaper. It always works when I try that.

Re: Avocados
I've tried brown paper bags, tin foil and newspapers etc but find I have to stick them in the grinder to get them mushy enough to eat on bagels and then they don't have that lovely oily taste I envy people who can make other methods work properly.

Re: Avocados
My advise would definitely be ''don't buy them''. In Turkey also it is very difficult to find a decent avocado. And the price of them now is crazy.

Ali the baker opposite Wines of the World has a bash at them occasionally - they do tend to be a bit misshapen, but not as bad as the ones that I made

I'm very fussy on bagels, I didn't like the ones in Brick Lane although they were definitely the best you could get at 4 in the morning.
