Whatsapp changed security settings on your app
I have just checked both of our phones and they have indeed changed the settings. I have changed them back!

And people ask me why I won't use FB and WhatsApp? Self explanatory I feel.

I checked mine and they hadnt changed anything. I use WhatApp a lot to talk to my daughter in the uk its much more reliable and clearer than Skype.

I would check again then just in case. Everyone I have looked at has been changed and that includes friends and neighbours.

Re: Whatsapp changed security settings on your app
Pleased to hear it but think it strange. Our phones. tablets and computers are all locked as tight as possible for security especially Facebook and Whatsapp (owned by FB) and my Whatsapp was certainly not open to everyone so they had changed it. I find them a necessary evil and it is often used so people can find where we live as giving directions to someone whose first language isn't English is hopeless.
There is also a problem at the moment where scammers are sending people a text purporting to be one of their contacts asking for a code to get them back into Whatsapp for security purposes. Then you send them that code and then they have control of your phone and account. There was a link but I cannot find it but I would suggest that anything sent to you via the phone is treated with a huge amount of common sense and don't click links unless you are sure of what it is you are doing. If in doubt phone the contact first and ask a question or two to verify what they say.
There is a web site called Scopes (no link here for the reason above) that you can use to attempt to verify if some scare story doing the rounds is true. It is very useful and handy to be aware of but it still doesn't eliminate the need for common sense.

A good alternative is Signal when more people use it. It’s very similar to WhatsApp and they do not ask you to let them share your details.

Thanks and of course I knew that but the predictive text didn't and I didn't check it. Re: Whatsapp changed security settings on your app
Many people choose not to use Facebook and WhatsApp for personal reasons, and mine is self-explanatory. Concerns about privacy, data sharing, and the impact on mental health lead me to seek out alternative platforms that better reflect my beliefs and tastes.Fm Whatsapp download
