Hi gripon,
As a matter of interest how old is your present liner?
I was considering converting mine from tiles to liner.
TIA

Gripon, I have pm'd you.

Navek, have a look at this link. http://www.nurlife.net/. Local business, Nurettin Catal, deals with Fox Pools an American company. Very good quality. We have had our pool 9 years and just having a replacement liner.

I think it probably depends on where the pool is and how much sun. Others on our development have lasted longer than ours, which has faded and developed small holes in the corners that get the most sun. So, ours has lasted a little over 9 years. Been very happy with it though, no underground pump, electrics or tank. Looks much better than the tiled type, different shapes available, and easy to look after. The quality of the fitting is excellent, as it is done by an expert.

Just as a matter of interest what is the benefit of a pool liner as opposed to the normal tiles. Is it a better or cheaper way of having a pool.

Jackvern, I don't know if it is better or cheaper...it certainly looks a lot better than tiles, and is very easy to maintain....easy to clean, none of those pits (balance tank things) that you have making your pool area look untidy, all a matter of choice I imagine.... maybe contact through the website link I gave, and ask Nurettin, he will tell you the benefits.

You can have both... in that it is possible to have an overflow pool lined. The tiles on a normal overflow pool are essentially cosmetic in that the pool construction before it is tarted-up with tiles should be leak-proof. I emphasise the word should.

Using a liner ought to render a problematic main pool less likely to leak... The balance tank might also benefit from lining - not with tiles as it is again cosmetic and possibly a waste of expense no matter how nice it looks....

Treating the overflow gutters with the appropriate silicone/rubber paint will also drastically reduce loss of water... as will sealing the edging the water flows over.
