Swimming pool chemical prices, North v South

I use CTX-60 algae control in my swimming pool during the summer months and I guess many others do also.
Since I needed a new 5 litre pack recently I asked around the local shops in the Lapta/Alsancak areas and was not surprised to find that they had increased the prices again this year to approximately 40 Euros (150-160TL).
The same 5 litre pack is freely available in the South for between 8-10 Euros.

How can the suppliers in the North justify such a higher price level? Or are they just ripping us off?

I collected some today from a company in Nicosia:
https://pool-plus.com/product/ctx-60-al ... -5-liters/

If you live in the South they also will deliver to your house for €4, or free if your order is €40.

"How can the suppliers in the North justify such a higher price level? Or are they just ripping us off?"

I cannot believe that things like that happen here!

Please give us directions to the shop from Metehan

I did look for it but it does not show up on my desktop following a recent re-formatting of my C drive... Don't ask!

Hello, As a pool supplier here in North Cyprus (with reasonable prices ), when I saw this post I felt I should clear a couple of subjects
Mr Paul90 I cannot understand your comparison between North and South. You are comparing apples with pears.
- The product you are talking about and buying from South is not an Algae killer. It is an Algae protector.
Our Algae Protector here is 5 Litres and the list price is €15.50 Euro. Our Algae Killer and protector combined product is €21 Euro for 5 litres.
- Here on the North Side we pay import duties and import taxes etc. South side, if it comes from within the EU (which it seems it does), pay none of these taxes and it is easy to ship there.
This is just for your information.
You can check and compare POOLTECH prices with your local pool suppliers. Even compare with the South.
At least we are proudly using Made in TURKEY products, supporting the economy here in the North and all our products have 2 years Warranty on them
Best Regards,
POOLTECH

Dear PoolTech - with respect, if you read my post carefully you will see that I am not comparing apples with pears since I am referring only to CTX-60, and no other product, and this same product CTX-60 is available at about 8-10 Euros in the South and about 40 Euros in the North.
I am not comparing CTX-60 with any similar or alternative product from any other manufacturer.
CTX-60 is an excellent product that I have used for almost ten years and is the one that most suppliers in the North seem to favour. At €10 per Kg it is very good value for money but not at €40.

Another product that I have used in past is Parlatici ve sertlik giderici (at 48TL for 5 litres) but I can no longer find this.

You say that "we are proudly using Made in TURKEY products, supporting the economy here in the North" but you price your products in Euros - why not sell them in Turkish Lira??

No they moved recently, they are now in the same block as Creditwest bank next to the Lemar in Catalkoy (seaside). So same side as Cratos but after Lemar driving into Girne from East.

It still doesn't answer the question as to why it is so much dearer here than in the South. Can't you offer any explanation?

Erm... Paul90 is talking about a price difference of 400%, not 40% !!

(I know that the difference in price is 300%, but I was just making a point...)

Just a quick note to say that POOLTECH do not and have never stocked the CTX-60 Algae Control product. Therefore I cannot offer an explanation of how the cost is calculated here. You would need to ask one of the actual suppliers.

We stock Gemaş ALGEX Protector. The 5 litre bottle is €15 Euro. (as an algae prevention product)
Or Gemaş ALGEX. The The 5 litre bottle is €21 Euro. (as an algae elliminator / killer)
