Overflow channel leaking

Hi

Our overflow channel leaks, we have had a number of people attempt to repair this but none have been successful, has anyone had theirs repaired and the leak actually stopped?

We did think about tiling it but decided that its what is below the tiles in a pool that should be watertight.

Many thanks
Louise

If the gulley has cracks or holes in it, then all of the old waterproofing material should be removed first, so that the extent of the necessary work can be assessed.

Frequently, the cause of defects in this area of the pool is faulty construction methods - the gulley should be formed in the same 'pour' of cement as the pool, and have suitable rebar reinforcement tied in to the main body of the pool, but unfortunately this is often not the case, and you can see that the gulley has been 'added on' afterwards. This leads to a situation where, if either the pool or the subsoil move - even by fractions of an inch - then cracks appear, often at the point where the gulley is joined on to the pool wall but also across the gulley, because it lacks strength...

If this is the case, then you need expert advice on what can be done to put it right - any 'patching up' will be a strictly temporary measure.

As a matter of interest, what exactly needed to be done, & how much did it cost?
