Charges at ATMs

A friend has just warned me of extra charges when you take out sterling at ATMs, i.e. if you want £500 you end up with £460 after charges - again when you take out tl you are charged about 5%. Has anyone else noticed these extra c harges? Would be interesting to find out. Thank you

Garanti ATM Alsancak is 2.5% so £500 would incur £12.50 charge. Yes, for some reason tl withdrawal is 5%

If you enter it into the search box you will find many threads running about charges at ATM's. TEB appear to be the only one who isn't charging at the moment. Here to start with but there are loads running.

I got sterling from Bankamatik (Iş) from the machine outside NCEA office in Alsancak last weekend with no charge. Have also previously had from the one at the big Starling in Alsancak, near Mardo's shop. Alas they have not had sterling for the last couple of days!
