With the TL at 3.835 at the moment and no sign of it going any lower until the Turkish Central Bank is free to do its own job - instead of being told what to do by the Turkish Government (or so the financial papes say), where are they getting the money to pay 10% interest on anything????
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Apparently they have a branch somewhere close to the HSBC and are opening two more branches. I asked "who is backing your bank and is the major shareholder". She said a name I didn't catch but he was a property developer and it was a TC bank.

Fatouche, thanks for that link, unfortunately I couldn't find a translation icon but I did notice that Haci Ali company is mentioned under the correspondents and contributors. If you're with Turkcell and get a call, you can ask questions for yourself. As to who owns what bank, the Exchange office I always go to, told me that the Nova Bank (just up the road from Deniz Plaza and Garanti Bank) is owned by the same family who own Lemar, Mera foods., etc. I think the Exchange would probably know.

I'm NOT saying it is Haci Ali (heaven forfend) it just seemd a bit of a coincidence. But it would be interesting to find out just who it is wouldn't it?
