The young man in Kyrenia is very good. He used to have his own shop but now shares a shop with his brother. This is just off the high street on the left hand side. You go past Cafe George and then turn right at first cross roads. It has handbags in the window. Any of the shopowners will tell you where the watchman is now,
Hope this helps.

The shop referred to by bigbadbob is Hannams. He is great.
Suzy the handbag lady was his mum but has retired so he runs both bags and watches.

We have used the man at Hannans to change our watch batteries for many years and have been very happy. However last week he changed batteries in 2 of my wife’s watches for which he charged 500tl. I was so shocked that that I was lost for words. Paid up and left.
So ask the price before you buy.

I personally won’t take either of my expensive watches here for batteries or otherwise. There are are no authorised retailers or service centres here for either Tag or Rado.
I know someone who had her Tag watch battery replaced in Girne. It started losing 30 mins.
The not so expensive I’ll take them but nothing valuable. I usually send mine back to UK with someone reliable who will be there for a couple of months.

Well we take our Rados, Breitling, Tag and Lascalle watches to the above mentioned Hannams. Never any problems at all. However in the UK when my Rado battery ran out last year they wanted £49 for a battery! I said no thank you and waited until I came home and had it replaced here. My Rado is nearly 25 years old and we have lived here for 18 years and it has had batteries from here for all that time with no problems whatsoever. My husband's watches also have had the same treatment with no problems.

When he replaces the battery, does he carry out a water pressure test?

That’s fair enough Pancho but I prefer to have mine done in UK where they also service them, pressure test and time test them. As I said, it’s not cheap but to me it’s worth it.
I’ve got a few other watches in need of new batteries so I’ll take them to Hannams.
