A new bill is being put forward in th ROC to stop north Cyprus taxis from dropping off or collecting from airports in the south unless they are registered there.
CLOSE THE BORDER. then they will lose all the airport revenue and everyone will come via Ercan hopefully lowering ticket prices.

see https://cyprus-mail.com/2024/01/19/govt ... iot-taxis/

All rather a joke -
“For this reason, there are standards of quality among taxi drivers in the Republic of Cyprus, and in bringing in this law to tighten restrictions on those illegally offering services, we as the government are working to ensure those standards of quality,” he said.
There are numerous press articles about the quality of south taxi drivers, especially at Paphos airport; ripping people off, refusing to put the meter on ( a legal requirement), the south press refer to 'taxis' as as the 'taxi mafia, with often the direct ear of politicians'.

Surely under the green line trade agreement this is illegal? They are not taking trade from Gc drivers as these are all preempt booked. What is the difference between Gc busses bringing tourists to the north? . Maybe let Gc drivers bring the many Gc that like to fly from Ercan , it's ironic the Gc drivers try and stop the norths driver taking people to the south yet drive over to fill their taxis to ferry Gc passengers around .

The Greeks are throwing the toys out their pram because all the Russians are leaving and they are not being allowed to launder their money any more.

North Cyprus is better off out of Europe it's providing other opportunities ....

There is an incredible extreme propaganda campaign by the Cyprus mail aimed at hitting property sales in the north . But with little substance .

They have used an historic arrest warrant from 2007 to do with Gary Robb and Andy then embelished that considerably linking it to new sales...

It all looks a bit desperate on their part .it's certainly not going to help any peace talks which look more dead than ever .

The EU money laundering regulations are extremely strict & limiting so it was never going to be a good place to launder dodgy money long term. It is one of the main reasons that I don’t think the mega casino down there will be a success
