Signed. Absolutely disgraceful. I've avoided Fujitsu since the early 90's when we used to sell their PC's at Toys R Us. They were eventually dropped as the defect rate then for just home computing was alarming enough and that's not including the DoA rate. Even more alarming is that Fujitsu are still being awarded UK Government contracts to this day.

Re: Please sign this petition against Fujitsu
Not to detract from the intention of this post or the debacle that was the Horizon system but it was developed by ICL and “adopted” by Fujitsu after the takeover.
“May 1996, ICL Pathway Limited (later Fujitsu Services (Pathway) Limited) was awarded the private finance initiative contract to develop the Horizon IT system to modernize Post Office and Benefits Agency operations. The project encountered a number of delays and setbacks during development, causing the Benefits Agency to abandon it in 1999, which led to a £180 million write-off at ICL and £571 million at the Post Office.[18][19] The project in large part led to reputational damage to the ICL brand, causing the renaming of the company to Fujitsu Services in April 2002, and later to just Fujitsu.”

One thing that struck me about the Mr Bates programme was that it seems we accept that there can be and often is human error but that computers which are designed by, built by, have algorithms written by, are operated by & maintained by humans can’t possibly be wrong

ETS & Mowgli...
I fully accept the points that you have both made.
The point of the petition is that as the Horizon debacle developed, Fujitsu became fully aware that the issues were due to faults in the software for which they had adopted responsibility, but kept quiet about it - in cahoots with the Post Office top Management.
