Pending ETIAS launch

So the EU is to launch its much delayed Electronic Travel Information and Authorisation System in 2025, meaning non-EU nationals will need to provide fingerprints, mugshot, address, employment details and travel history, and pay (currently) 7 Euro for a Travel Permit to enter the EU, valid for 3 months. The RoC already uses the 90/180 day rule even though it isn't in the Schengen Area, as does the TRNC where in addition to not being in the Schengen Area, EU membership is currently suspended.

The RoC being in the EU will also be adopting the new ETIAS system, meaning if for example, UK nationals go to TRNC on holiday twice a year but more than 3 months apart and enter via Larnaca or Pafos, it will cost an additional 14 Euro a year, per person.

I am wondering if the TRNC is likely to adopt the new system in line with the republic and if so, would non-EU nationals need to apply again in order to cross the Green Line?

Fast answer would be YES, especially if money can be made out of it then it will almost be a definite! Now will wait to see if we need one to go shopping as well - lol.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Wrt Schengen area, the RoC is now integrated into the SIS, as of 25 July 2023.

I suppose it was only a matter of time, though it makes no difference to the 90/180 day rule. The only thing then is if TRNC does adopt ETIAS. If not, flying to Erçan can sometimes be a cheaper option, but crossing the Green Line would put the cost of McDonalds up by 14 Euro just to take the wife out to dinner

ETIAS will be valid for 3 years not 3 months
