Requirements to marry in the South
Hopefully someone knowledgeable can assist, as the people concerned don't seem to be able to find an answer (or perhaps are not looking in the correct place)
1. Prospective groom has an up to date TC Kimlik card and lives in TRNC permanently
2. Prospective bride has an up to date British Passport and lives in TRNC permanently
3. However, they wish to marry in the RoC, so does anyone know whether the Groom has to first apply and pay for a Cypriot passport before they can apply to be married.
If anyone has the correct information, or is sure where it can be obtained, I will pass it on ASAP.

Re: Requirements to marry in the South
I am going through the process next year and have been told both passports plus both divorce papers taken to office on left of post office top of leora. Then take forms to a court swear an affidavit wait two weeks and get married at the registry.

Thanks for that - no divorces involved in this case. Will pass your information on immediately.

Email this address and they will tell you all you need to know.
FAO: Yiorta : [email protected]
I expect that the happy couple will also have to fly into Cyprus via the ROC on their last entry prior to the wedding.
Court House for Certificate of Non Impediment can be done on the same day as the wedding. However, if you complete the papers earlier, the license fee is less. Allow approx 320 Euros to cover all, including having the certificate Appostilised following the actual wedding.
Best regards,
CAROL

Thanks very much for the new information TB10pilot. Will pass this information on immediately. The "happy couple" both live permanently in the North, hence the question regarding RoC passport for the Groom.

TB10pilot, I don't need to ask it, however I have passed the link on to the two people concerned. The rest is up to them.

Don't TRNC citizens already have an EU passport - the same as those from RoC?

Im not sure, I think they are entitled to an RoC passport, but whether they take it up is another matter and I suspect it can be expensive for your average TRNC worker. As to an EU passport, that's a totally different kettle of fish.

Well I thought so too, perhaps it was the way that mish reply was worded that made me hesitate and think there was a difference. Anyway, its for the Bride and Groom to suss out, not me.

Re: Requirements to marry in the South
Mish may not have been clear enough - sorry!
The impression given was that the groom is a Cypriot (not a settler from Turkey). All those from genuine Cypriot families from north and south have the right to a RoC passport, which as mentioned is an EU passport too. But one would assume that the groom would already know that - or would he?
