Reduced phone life
I have noticed that when I visit north Cyprus I seem to get a much shorter life out of my phone than back in the UK.
For instance, a full charge in the UK gives my phone a life of over 3 days. In NC I get about 1 day or less.
Any ideas?

Do you use it more?
Do you have GPS/WiFi/Bluetooth turned on, which you don't use in UK?
otherwise - no idea! - Sorry.

The problem also occurs in Ireland its your phone searching for networks in weak signal areas also the bluetooth wifi thing as well
Just over the border into Eire my uk phone is very confused and the signal strength in rural areas causes issues

Yes that is a possibility - if the OP lives 'out in the sticks' where the 'phone network coverage is patchy.wanderer wrote:The problem also occurs in Ireland its your phone searching for networks in weak signal areas also the bluetooth wifi thing as well

Living in Alsancak, I find that mobile reception here is far superior to that which I experience in the UK

If wifi is on and you are not coonected the phone will be constantly seeking to connect to a network using power.

I suppose the same goes for 'Mobile Data' as well - it's a minefield, isn't it?MVP wrote:If wifi is on and you are not coonected the phone will be constantly seeking to connect to a network using power.

Re: Reduced phone life
For anyone interested, the answer seems to be this:
When abroad, the phone is constantly seeking a better signal. Something to do with pings....
Apparently, this is very draining on the battery life.
