Private Message stuck

I'm trying to send a private message but it's stuck in my outbox, can anyone help?

It would be better if the posting of a PM brought up a message box saying "Your message will remain in your outbox until collected by the recipient and can be deleted or edited before they read it if you wish."

Groucho, you are correct, but however it reads at least it would stop this question coming up time after time. Wish I had a pound for every time it has in the past and probably will in the future unless something is done to avoid it.
