Can anyone recommend a rental company in the north that allows a renter to travel with the car to the South of the island?

Pacific in Girne.

Thanks Tom, I looked at their website earlier and it said that they cannot be taken to the South. Have you done this personally?

I used Acmenya several times when we lived there.You must get a signed letter allowing you to travel South.We had a week in Paphos on one occasion.No problems.

I went South last week with a car hired from Bespinar. You'll need a doc from them stating the car is allowed South and the vehicle log book for the tax office at Metahan. Tax is free and ins for a min of 1 month at Metehan is 25 Euros. The tax booth / office at the Metahan border closes at 2.30pm although the insurance booths close at 9.00pm. Hmmnn!

Re. Post 2 - more information received indicating that Pacific do NOT allow their rental cars to go to the South see this post.

The instances where it was reportedly allowed may have been 'one offs', possibly to people known personally to the owners, and trusted to venture into 'Injun Territory' , or perhaps it was prior to reports of TRNC registered cars being attacked / vandalised - I don't really know, that's just supposition on my part!

We hire from Pacific, told not allowed to go South in the car, there is a sticker on the dash board reminding you of this.

Baspinar at Catalkoy certainly used to allow hire cars South side. You need MOT for Greek side too,remembering if you do hire,make sure it is not a Saturday as the office for required paperwork is closed. You must also have a letter of consent from hirer.

Karapasha allow you to take their cars over and will also assist you if you have anty problems.

Hi, we used Inter Rent (opposite Altinkaya Hotel) for car hire when going over the boarder. Needed copy of log book and authorisation from them as others have also said.
