Ok so now I'm the proud owner of a new sewing machine I now need all the accoutrements i.e threads and fabric. I have been in lots of wool shops but not really paid any attention to thread/fabric and wondered if any sewing bees out there could recommend somewhere?

The best ones are in Lefkosa old town, in the little turning that goes up to the mosque from the street that goes down to the Ledra Street crossing. The second haberdasher on the right is like an Alladin's cave !

That shop doesn't but there are several fabric shops on the left hand side further up the same street. If you trawl through the old posts on here, there are directions to a veritable treasure of a fabric shop in Famagusta.
