Re: No messenger service
You have given no indication of what steps you may have tried or not tried, so...
General advice: - Switch off, take out the battery, leave for a minute, re-insert battery, turn back on, try it!
UN-install App, re-install app, try it
Kick it!

Re: No messenger service
Why Facebook Messenger will STOP working on some phones
Facebook users will see the popular Messenger service stop working on a number of smartphones.
From April 1, the widely-used app will no longer run on devices powered by Windows Phone 8.1 or earlier.
The messaging app boasts over one billion users.
And the Mark Zuckerberg-owned company announced the change in an email to customers who will be affected by the update.
"Thank you for choosing to use Messenger," the email reads....
"We regret to inform you that since the end of March, the app version you're using is no longer supported and you can no longer send and receive messages.
"To continue to send and receive messages from Facebook on your phone, update your Facebook app to the latest version."
