every transfer cost £30 and takes 4 days best way is to lump it up and do one big one

Re: Transferring money from UK
If you have a UK Bank account with a Debit card that allows GBP withdrawals without any penalties or extra costs, then that's the way to go.
Up to £500 per day should do you - and you can always apply for an extra card...

I agree with Keith, use the same method to move money from Germany here.
Gates that is your (unnamed) bank.
Move UK pension from HSBC PLC to CreditWest (GBP account) costs 4GBP and always within the same day.

Would this thread be better in financial section rather than Internet and Computers?

If you really think that it should be moved, then the correct procedure is to PM one of the moderators, their names are listed above each forum page.teatime wrote:Would this thread be better in financial section rather than Internet and Computers?
Posting the question on the forum itself, where a moderator is unlikely to read it will achieve nothing.
I hope that you will accept this advice in the spirit in which it is offered as you are obviously a stickler for doing things in the correct manner

Re: Transferring money from UK
Say need £10.000 transferred, you should be able to transfer £10, 000 in 10 single transfers of a £1.000 a day from UK to your bank here with out charge. it arrives straight away if your transferring UK to UK bank.
Your bank may allow more to be transferred without question, i.e. £3,000 in one transfer, then withdraw £500 per day from sterling paying bank here until you have the amount you need.
Hope I have explained this correctly

Poppy+1,
Again like Gates you do not name the two banks.
The conditions applied to any transfer differ from bank to bank.
My information is based on over 8 yrs. of transfers to a number of banks in the TRNC from banks in both Germany and the UK.

I thought my suggestion might help the original poster get more replies to their question. I didn't expect abuse from you for suggesting it, although I suppose I should have done.Keithcaley wrote:If you really think that it should be moved, then the correct procedure is to PM one of the moderators, their names are listed above each forum page.teatime wrote:Would this thread be better in financial section rather than Internet and Computers?

Re: Transferring money from UK
I don't know where you get your 'information', but my bank charges me a minimum of £25 to transfer Sterling to a Bank in TRNC, and my TRNC bank charges me for receiving it, unless I allow them to immediately convert it to TL at a very uncompetitive rate. I think that the only Bank that allows free transfers is HSBC, and I believe that that only applies to 'premium customers' - ie you need to maintain a minimum of £60, 000 in your account...Poppy+1 wrote:Say need £10.000 transferred, you should be able to transfer £10, 000 in 10 single transfers of a £1.000 a day from UK to your bank here with out charge
There are no UK banks in TRNC- most transfers seem to take days, & on occassion, even weeks!...it arrives straight away if your transferring UK to UK bank...
As bowman says, I think that you need to be more specific on which particular banks you are talking about, as my experience appears to be entirely contrary to yours...Your bank may allow more to be transferred without question, i.e. £3,000 in one transfer, then withdraw £500 per day from sterling paying bank here until you have the amount you need.
I hope that I have as well...Hope I have explained this correctly

Seems you don't get out at all, as you are always on here trying to belittle other people.Keithcaley wrote:Teatime, if you thjnk that that was abuse, then you don't get out enough

Re: Transferring money from UK
I have always used HiFX to transfer GBP & TL to our Capitalbank accounts.
Up to £3000 or equivalent they charge £9 per transaction, above £3000 there is no charge.
We have finished transferring our lump sums and will use our Nationwide FlexPlus account to withdraw up to £1000 per day between us. No charge for withdrawing GBP.
Hope this helps.

Re: Transferring money from UK
As I mentioned in a thread titled Banking, any money transferred from HSBC UK to HSBC Girne ( Turkey) incurs a charge for in coming funds. They say it is a Turkish ruling. I explained that in my case it was being transferred from a U.K. Premier account in the U.K to a HSBC Premier account in North Cyprus ( Turkey). It made no difference . They would not refund the charge.
When I transferred money back to the U.K. I made an on line swift payment and incurred NO CHARGE at HSBC in TRNC and no charge for receiving the sterling back in the U.K.

Thats where I get my “information” Keithcaley by having transferred this way myself, shows' the need to re read before posting, Thanks for pointing out my error.
Added extra
It will take a time but if in no hurry for the cash, it saves bank charges
Halifax Flexi allows £500 a day withdrawal and Garanti pays in Sterling
Sorry for confusion:?

Poppy+1, It just shows how one wrong word can turn a sensible sentence into gibberish
Thanks for the clarification.
