I notice from this month's 'What's on and Where' that Cengiz has taken over the Stone Castle Restaurant & Bar. Is he still running the Waterfall Restaurant in Pine Valley? If not, is the Waterfall still open?

Taro (formally Waterfall) is now open evenings.

Beautiful contemporary refurbishment, easy background music, pleasant attentive staff. Small menu, approx 6 starters and mains, 3 desserts.

The prices are in Euros, so starters cost around 5-9 euros, mains 12.50- 22 euros,
Did not note dessert prices.
Bottle of house wine 17€, glass of wine around 5€. A can of Strongbow 4.50€, 1/3 bottle of beer around 5€, no Effes.

We enjoyed our food, cannot say it was wow it was nice. But there are other establishments here (east) that serve food that I enjoy at a lesser price.
We were the only customers that evening.
They are also advertising Sunday lunch, 20€ for 2 courses,25€ for 3, ( if memory serves me correctly)

Is it just me. I find things priced in Euros here annoying. In fact I won’t be trying the restaurant.

Won't even bother - at todays exchange rate a Sunday 2 course lunch is 125TL and that is taking the Mick just a bit too far.

Heard it was the people who used to have Effendi's in Girne that are running it, but cannot confirm. I certainly won't be going there due to pricing in euros. Shame really as it's a fantastic location with amazing views.

Correct. Andy Radford , now the owner of The Taro Brasserie, had an involvement with The Efendi. Understand the intention is to have an equally good restaurant out in the east.

A lot of money has been poured into it. The new kitchen and equipment alone cost £100,000. The beautiful natural wood tables cost £2,000 each. So I guess the high prices reflect the cost of investment,

That's off the list then, not only are the prices high, although to be fair maybe reflect the quality of the food, drink and service, BUT, we are living under Lira currency, NOT Euro's nor Sterling for that matter, so, nope won't be paying at a visit. I really don't understand the mentality to be honest.

Samson, do you know whether Bastaslar own the restaurant business or the premises, or both? Andy has other business interests and perhaps it was never his intention to be "hands on". Understood this was to be a long-term project so surprised if it has changed hands already.

Agree, big mistake to price in Euros!
